I.C. progress #1

For my inquiry contract paper I decided to argue whether or not males should have rights when it comes to women having abortions. I decided to do this because men do not have rights to thier child being aborted or not. We all know their is debate whether abortion is right or wrong, but I don't think many of us have thought about the men that are involved with the women that have abortions. I believe it will be a unique paper and it will be a new veiwpoint for the abortion argument.

I haven't started typing the paper, but I researched whether or not men have rights to their child being aborted or not. In my research I found that there is no law giving the father the opportunity to have a say in the decision of a child being aborted, but there are many sites that have debates on whether or not men should have a say in the decision. I believe that the final decisions should be joint, unless the women was raped, or the father says that he doesn't want anything to do with the child. I also want to explore if it's fair to make a father pay for child support, if he says at the beginning of pregnancy that he didn't want the child. I will research some more and try to get some cases of these happenings.

I think that this is a very good issue that you are writing about. personally I think that the male should have some impact the decision to have an abortion to some extent, but it is ultimatelu the woman who has to give birth. I am against abortions, but it is hard to prevent people from getting them. Innocent lives are killed everyday becuase of abortions, and that is not right. I also think that a father should have to give child support, becase even though they may have been opposed to the child, once again it omes down to who is having the baby. it is different when a woman knows that they killed osmehting inside of them, this is something that not a lot of men can comprehend, no offense to anyone. This can be a very touchy subject, but I cna't wait to see what kind of approach you will take on this topic.

Ethan, I think that you are on to a really good idea. You never really hear about the Father's side of the abortion issue and I have thought about it myself on a couple of occasions. Also, I think that this paper is a prefect place to do it because both through my personal experiences and the classroom's reaction to your idea on Wednesday, I have noticed that this discussion is hard to have in person. I really look forward to reading your paper

Ethan!

I like your comments alot. I read what you were planning on doing, trying to decide between abortion and terrorism. I was leaning towards terrorism because abortion is a popular topic and lots of people write about it!

Then I read your progress blog! You have found a way to change the viewpoint of a common paper and I am excited to see what you come up with at the end! It sounds great and i really like the point about whether the father should have to pay child support if he doesnt want the child. My personal beliefs are that if he says at the beginning of the pregnancy that he does not want the child and will not pay child support, then, he shouldnt have to! But thats just me!

I like your ideas and good luck!
